Patrons

Patrons

This college was originally named in honour of St. Philip Benizi and he has remained its patron ever since.  St. Philip was a very early Prior General of the Servite Order (1267 – 1285).  He filled this role at a time when the Order was in great need of his wisdom, his patience and his sanctity.  His manly fortitude has made him an ideal model for staff and students.  The administration building of the college is named after him.

When co-education was introduced into the school, it was logical that a female saint should take her place alongside Philip.  For this, St. Juliana Falconieri was chosen.  Also coming from the earliest years of the Servite Order, Juliana was a woman of prayer and dynamic personality who attracted many other young women to dedicate their lives to God.  These two Servites are called upon daily to inspire and protect the staff and students who frequent Servite College.
